" The Atomic Pixie Theory

Please note this page is unfinished at the moment.
So I am afraid it is a little disorganised.However, if you have any comments on how to improve or expand the theory I would welcome them at sjw47@cam.ac.uk

Some Thoughts:-
The basic axioms

* All matter is made up of pixies.
* There are 3 states of matter:-
1. Solid: Here all the pixies are closely holding hands.
2. Liquid: Heating solids causes the pixies to enter a drunken state.
It is commonly known that drunk people have a tendency to clump together, however they may also have trouble standing up.Others try to escape from the circle but are prevented from doing so by their neighbours who grab hold of them.Some do escape and wander around aimlessly,or run around bumping into each other or finding new pixies to talk to/fight with/form a new group with.
3. Gas: Here the pixies are confused and so they run around in random directions.

Some testable hypotheses

'Gravity'

* The Force of Gravity is created by pixes shouting at each other commands like 'This way' and 'Over here'.
* The volume of pixes shouting in various directions determines which way the pixies move.
* The more pixies in one direction the stronger the 'force' that way.
* The further away the pixies are from each other,the lower the volume of shouting they hear,and hence the 'inverse square rule'.
* Pixies are very sociable folk,hence the failure of 'scientists' to discover 'anti-gravity'.

Colour

* Colour is determined by the colour of the hats the pixies that make up a given object are wearing.

'Electricity'

* Electricity is casued by pixies passing their hats round the 'circuit', the rate at which they do this determines the 'current' in the circuit.
* Battery pixies sometimes get old and die,thus breaking the circuit. (Rechargable battery pixies only fall asleep)
* Electic pixies have colourless hats,which is why you can't see electricity.

Some new theories:

* Pixies are quite disorganised folk hence the 'Second Law of Thermodynamics'

Now for some basic Chemistry.

* Pixies often referred to by chemists as water are fairly friendly types so stick together more when drunk than some other pixies,which results in phenomena such as higher the than expected boiling point of water. They are quite picky about who they associate with, not allowing some types of pixie to pass through into their group. Maybe the water pixies in their solid state are picked up and carried by the drunken ones, or perhaps they sit/crowd surf on them? But for many other types of pixie, the solid ones are trampled on by the liquid ones and sat on.
* Some pixies like to hold onto their hats, not conducting electricity.....however this depends on what state they are in. Some will pass them around when tipsy, but not when solid, and some are the other way round..
* Acidity is to do with pixies passing around electric irons to smarten up their hats with (hats are obviously very important to them). Some are broken though, pixies are generally nice (we have already determined their general sociability and this has been compounded by the no anti-grav thing and the tipsy pixie thing) and so ones who do not need working irons (their hats are in a very good condition, they have already ironed them) will swap them or pass them to ones with irons that do not work. Sometimes irons are shared as well.
* Superconducting Pixies - The pixies are cooled down (liq. He etc.) and so they become rather chilled. They realise that their millinary is grossly inadequate for the conditions so they give away their hats and snatch their neighbours hats as quickly as possible. They do this because pixies know that 'The other pixies grass is always greener' and therefore assume (somewhat irrationally) that the other pixie will also posess a warmer hat. The rapid passing of hats is the electric current
* Photoelectric Effect - Light pixies (photons) bounce off matter pixies. As has been observed by 'scientists' these pixies all travel at 3*10 8 ms-1.
When the light pixies are dieting and only have low mass,the matter pixies don't mind and ignore them (Light pixies with low energy are annoying but harmless enough).
When the light pixies are greedy and have that extra bit of chocolate cake,they hit with high energy and the matter pixies get annoyed. They catch the light pixies and turn their hats inside out.This will change a light pixie into an electric pixie. The matter pixies then get rid of the electricity pixies by drop-kicking them off the surface.The mass the light pixies must achieve to annoy the matter pixies depends on the type of matter pixies they encounter i.e. what colour/style/size of hat the matter pixies are wearing.
